These four portraits comprise my "Young Warriors" set of Limited Edition Prints. The originals are graphite drawings, and there were 250 sets in the printing. Each print is signed and numbered.
Many people have helped and supported my artistic endeavors throughout the years, most notably my wife Fran and my family. I would not be exploring this "World Wide Web" without that support.
This seems like a good place in my Website to mention two other people who were a tremendous influence, Carole Bourdo and Chuck McNames. Years ago, while visiting Cripple Creek, Colorado, I was particularly drawn to the artwork of Carole Bourdo, whose wildlife and Native American renderings captured all the beauty and detail of the subject, while sacrificing none of the dignity or character. A self-taught artist, this was exactly what I was striving for in my own renderings, and after meeting Carole, was encouraged by her to "keep at it" and not lose sight of my dreams.
Here's where Chuck came in and helped me develop my Faces West folio of Western and Native American portraits......among which was the "Young Warriors" series of limited edition prints which you see at the top of this page. Chuck helped me finance these endeavors, and would also help me market them, taking them with him on his jewelry selling junkets throughout Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico, and to the Reservations in those states where he would buy from the Native American craftsmen. They thought my portraits were "pretty good for an Anglo". So, for that support and faith in me, I am dedicating my Faces West section to the memory of Chuck McNames.
