Umpqua River Lighthouse
Reedsport, Oregon
Located 6 miles south of Reedsport above the entrance to Winchester Bay and adjacent to Umpqua Lighthouse State Park. An earlier structure, commisioned on the north spit of the river in 1857, was the first lighthouse sited on Oregon coast. It fell into the river in 1861 after sand eroded under the foundation. Current structure is identical to Heceta Head Lighthouse, with a 65-foot tower, and overlooks sand dunes from 165 feet elevation on south side of bay. Light was illuminated in 1894, and emits distinctive red and white automated flashes.
There are ten Lighthouses along the Oregon coast, seven of which are open to the public, and one that is a private residence. Lighthouse portraits make excellent gifts for all occasions. Look for your favorite lighthouse or collect the whole series. My Lighthouse note cards are available as a package of 10 cards of the featured lighthouse, or as an assortment, each package containing 1 each of 10 different renderings. I now have two assortment packages of lighthouses available. Assortment #1 includes all of the Oregon Coast lighthouses, and Assortment #2 includes Washington and East Coast lighthouses that I've completed thus far. These assortments will be changing as I add more lighthouses to the collection.
Please visit the "Products" section of this website to view the various fine wood products and trivets that feature laser-engravings of these renderings. I will also be adding these images to my CafePress storefront, where you will be able to order T-shirts, mousepads, calendars and more.
